Christian Daichi Carlson

Christian Daichi Carlson is a second-year PhD student in the English Department. Before joining the UVA community, he received a B.A. in English with a Concentration in Creative Writing: Poetry from Washington University in St. Louis as well as an MSt in English (1900-Present) from the University of Oxford (Keble College). His research interests emerge out of a wide-eyed enamorment with 20th century Anglophone modernist poetry—particularly with the interwar verse experiments of Marianne Moore, Elizabeth Daryush, and (growingly) Gertrude Stein—placed in dialogue with the contemporarily pressing, interconnected discourses of posthumanism, ecocriticism, and trauma.
